Whether you've got a three-day weekend coming up that you want to take advantage of or you're looking for a getaway from Fairfax, we have some suggestions to make the most of your weekend trip.
1. Washington, DC
Take in the sites and the history of our nation’s capital for the weekend or just one day. From the Washington Monument, and The Lincoln Memorial, to the White House and the Library of Congress there’s so much to take in here!
2. Shenandoah National Park
The beautiful Shenandoah National Park encompasses parts of the Blue Ridge Mountains. We’d recommend the scenic Skyline Drive, a 105-mile-long road that runs along the entire length of the park. The views are gorgeous!
3. Quantico, VA
In a small town bordered by the Potomac River, you’ll find the National Museum of the Marine Corps as well as Mallows Bay. As one of the top tourist destinations in the state, the National Museum of the Marine Corps will walk you through the history of this branch of our military and everything they do to help protect us. Then, get outside and take in the fresh air by hiking or kayaking on Mallows Bay.
4. Virginia State Capitol
As the third capital city of the United States, the Virginia State Capitol holds so much history waiting to be uncovered. There is plenty to do in our capital city, so make a day or weekend out of exploring history and nature. On our list in Richmond is the Edgar Allen Poe House and Belle Isle.
5. Hershey, PA
